One of the exhibitors and a Chairwoman of Association of Negros Producers (ANP) Maryann Colmenares gave us a    short  account of how the Negros Trade Fair begun.

The very first Negros Trade Fair was in 1985.   The farm -owners who were the early members of the ANP brough t their trade to the Ayala carpark in Makati.   Podded by the image of Batang Negros, foreigners and Filipinos alike trooped to patronize the trade fair to support the socio-economic development of the farmhands that diligently produced the products.   the same framhands that used to cultivate the land, but were trained to produce intricately-designed and delicately-made placemats, bags, baskets and other items that used raw materials like twigs, coconuts and bamboo that were abundantly found in the haciendas.

To date, ANP has a total of 106 members.  Their products are displayed and sold in the Negros Showroom.    So if you weren’t able experience the fare this year, there will be more in the coming years and Negros, welcomes everyone to visit the province and experience a vast novelty products with quality packaging and priced competitively and say Pinoys are truly ingenious producers.
